Traffic can feel hairy sometimes, but in general it's an easy, pleasant ride. The architecture and neighborhoods are generally interesting. Now it's much more desireable to live further north which is probably why Ocean Pkwy is allowed to stay garbage strewn a bulk of the time and our little enclave off the entrance is a mess of trash and cracking sidewalks... A friend and I plan to try walking it down to Coney Island. Not sure what that will be like, but I figure we'll see a lot! My parents lived in brooklyn until the 70's and back in their day (and for many long time brooklyn residents) Ocean Parkway was THE place to live. It really was like the madison avenue of brooklyn. If you had money and you wanted a showoff address you moved to ocean parkway. My experience w the new developments I've seen (like the new one on Ocean and Church) is the construction quick and design basic. Last time I looked Ocean Parkway was full of highrises that may or may not be nice on the inside but look like Soviet housing on the exterior. So this fits right in, no?
