No insisting there be cheese on it Chris? I'm pleasantly suprised! I also went by but in the evening after work. They will make rolls to order, are good quality and reasonably priced. If you can please go by and welcome to the neighborhood another small business, and perhaps even make a purchase ot two.

Per a posting on KWT, the menu was printed incorrectly and many of the prices are wrong--the tuna roll for $8.50 is actually only $4. They have ordered new menus without misprints and with the correct prices. If you went there and were overcharged it was because the person charging you was not aware of the problem--it's the restaurant's 1st week--there will be hiccups. So please be patient and give them a chance! To the bloggers--maybe you can post about this, as the incorrect menus are still outside of the restaurant so there is bound to be a lot of confusion--it's just a shame to scare off customers in the first week unnecessarily (but they should take away the incorrect menus to avoid further confusion--oh well).

I get lunch specials at 2B Thai on weekends just fine even if it says it is Mon-Fri.

Subway costs nothing with unlimited metro card. And the quality/portion at Sushi Yama is significantly better.

A restaurant needs to consider the demographic it is trying to serve. It is one thing if I am going to a fancy place in Midtown Manhattan. But this is one of the most expensive places in Brooklyn in its class, heck it is more expensive than most of the Manhattan take out places.

At the very least make a dinner box special or something.

In all fairness, I don't know of many places that offer lunch specials on the weekends--weekday-only lunch specials are pretty much the norm. Sushi is relatively pricey--and I'd rather spend a few extra dollars to walk a few blocks and buy in my neighborhood. And if I have to spend money to take the subway to get to a slightly cheaper place then it's a wash anyway. But I think the prices sound reasonable if it's quality fish, it's good, and the portions are decent.

Picked up a eel roll today just to try it out. The quality is ok but it is way overpriced at $6.50 for six very small pieces without avocados.

Sushi Yama (Windsor Terrace) in a more expensive neighborhood is superior in both quality AND price. I will probably experiment with Foodtown sushi before resuming my weekly trip to Sushi Yama, it is just two subway stops and I can just make a stop there on the way home from Manhattan.

Heck the sushi place next to my office on 59th and Lexington Avenue is cheaper than this place, and better quality/quantity too!

Also what is with the ridiculous "lunch special only for weekday, holiday not included" thing? This means I will never get any lunch specials unless I am home sick or something.

I just walked by Maki Sushi and grabbed a menu (menus are available outside). It was closed, but looked very nice inside. I don't know the hours--the menu only states that it's open 7 days a week. It's not right next door to Thai Tony's; it's 3 doors down. Alouise, I did a quick glance for soba noodles, and they do have an "ebi and soba appetizer" for $7.50 (description says: shirmp with a chilled green tea soba noodle salad). There might be other soba noodle options that I didn't see. The menu looks great--a lot of variety. Their entrees (teriyaki, tempura, unagi don, ton katsu, and miso glazed cod) all come with rice and choice of soup or salad. The menu lists both cold and hot appetizers, maki, sushi, combo platters, sashimi platters, desserts, and beverages (teas, calpico (I don't know what that is), coffee, soda, and water). Lunch box specials for $7.95 too from noon to 4 Mon.-Fri. I wonder if it's BYOB?
