Don't get your hopes up about an express train. I used to live on the N and we waited for years for that express to come. When it did, service was actually WORSE. "Express" basically means less trains coming less often and making less stops. If you're lucky it will balance out to the same commute time.

The viaduct may be in worse shape than anyone will admit. It has never been rehabbed in it's 70 years of existence. MTA may have to tear it down and rebuild it from the ground up. That would mean no subway service at all for at least two years, if not more.

The X29 bus is frequently targeted for elimination. It's the orphan of the Brooklyn express buses.

If the MTA had it's way it would elimnate all the express bus routes in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx. MTA claims they lose money, like the subways don't lose money also?

Starting to make our living in the supposed "Dead Zone" of Kensington look better and better with it's proximity to the pretty reliable Q train. Not to mention a short walk to Ditmas and the new stuff on Cortelyou.

The F was tolerable when we lived near the Bergen street stop but it's misery out here. Sympathies for the folks that are that much closer to that train. I'll sign any F train petition out there but it will probaby always remain a back up plan for me.

cycling is an excellent alternative. I'm a three-and-a-half season commuting cyclist and it's really awesome... the only bummer for me is that my unpredictable schedule sometimes makes for lonely, cold, dark rides home in the late fall and early winter. but it's well worth trying and this time of year is a perfect time to give it a shot!

If it gets really bad I guess I'm going to have to start biking my sedentary rump to work everyday. I can't deal with overly late trains with people packed in like Sardines. It makes me feel like Blanche DuBois.
