West End of Church - An Update

From a neighbor:

Triangle Below Greenwood Cemetery is Moving Along!
A few recent changes down on this end would include the greenification of Church Ave with a few new trees, the new Taco King on Church Ave at Story St. that makes their tortillas fresh to order, and the new video store /internet cafe just off of Church at Dahill. Things are definitely moving along on the west end of Church!

Sorry, but Taco King is without a doubt one of the worst Mexican food "restaurants" I've ever been too. I've been there twice (I live across the street) and each time was horrible. I ordered nachos and it consisted of drive-in style chips with canned nacho "cheese" and dog food-like meat that was placed in the microwave. I ordered a burrito and they did not know how to FOLD it. They couldn't fold the burrito correctly. Yeah. Simply awful. I'm all for new places in our neighborhood, but the bad ones should not be encouraged. Especially when right across the street is the Taqueria with some of the best Mexican food in the city!

Where's this taqueria you mentioned?

And a new video story at Church and Dahill? Is that the smartest idea, in the age of Netflix and such?

Oh, sorry, you said across the street. Now I have to look up Story St. :)

The taqueria is just where Church splits (where the buses park). If you are walking east from Dahill on Church on the left side of the street, follow the split to the left, just past the car service place with all the trophies. They don't really speak English, but of course that is the sign of a good Mexican restaurant.

RE the video store: It, like the one that was there previously, has some mainstream videos, but I think it primarily caters to the Bangladeshi clientele, with a lot of Indian and Bangladeshi titles.

I'll have to try the taqueria. Maybe my Portunol (mix of Portuguese and Spanish) will get me by.

Does the Taqueria have a sign? I've never noticed it before.
