One More Church Ave Commercial Space...

The old 'Simply The Truth' hip hop store at 53 Church Ave is up for grabs. Anyone got the juice on this one? The for rent sign (718 757 6332) doesn't list a realtor just a number. We're not sure how much foot traffic this side of the Ave. gets but hear Faro's, one block away, gets a pretty good breakfast and lunch crowd. We're of the opinion that any local store that fills a need will get people off the beaten path.

that is indeed ludicrous! meanwhile on the very same block sits the abandoned albanian cafe (cousin of old brick oven ) that was closed eons ago for selling liquor without a permit and an old bodega that has sat empty for a number of years.

Re Faro's Diner on Church. Beware! Stopped in for a salad and saw NO GLOVES used in preparing it.

When I asked the owner about this, he turned away and ignored me.

As I left the store right away, a woman (his wife????) asked me to pay for the few sips of iced coffee I had ordered. I said 'no' and left.

I can't believe Faro's is still open. I went there once when I first moved to the neighborhood about 6 and a half years ago and found it filthy--plus, the servers, cook, etc, look just as dirty as the place itself. Never again!

since 1969 i have eaten at countless places that have served me food without wearing gloves, and I have only gotten sick once, maybe twice, three times tops, but really less than a dozen.

This gloves thing is funny. I only worry whether restaurant workers wash their hands after doing their business. I would have loved to see the look on the woman's face when she was asked to wear gloves. She probably works from 7 AM to 11 PM her whole adult life to get ahead.

1102am, the woman may work long hours, but it doesn't give her a license to ignore health codes and handle food with filthy hands. Two separate issues.

I work hard all day too. Maybe tonight I'll run a few red lights at 60mph. What the hell, it's only a traffic law anyway.

i not only dont want them to wear gloves, i would like them to pick their nose while they are serving me

Chris, you dirty blogger. In the slope places have an organic nose picking surcharge on their menus. After all in some cultures nose-picking is considered a sign of respect.

And who are we to criticize people from toilet-nation 3rd world countries who enter the USA illegally and spread diseases.

most diseases can be cured, and doesn't the 3 second, kiss it up to god rule take affect after that.
