Small Steps for Kensington - #2

Just in time for summer our favorite guys at the Luncheonette and Deli on the corner of Albemarle and McDonald got iced coffee. We have to say we're not huge fans of their hot coffee but know some people who love it and for 75 cents can you really complain? Well, this bunch got hip to the heat and now besides your lottery tickets, smokes, gossip rags and friend egg and cheese you can get a cool iced coffee. For as nice and welcoming as these guys are we think you should all give it a try, especially since its right by the F train entrance making it the perfect location for the morning coffee stop.

I don't mean to be rude but some of us are by another subway stop--please can that be recognized rather than always pimping Church Ave as everybody's stop.

Maybe someone (you?) who *does* use another stop could email notices about news pertaining to things that don't necessarily pop up here. I'd imagine our blogger is still bound by the laws of physics and can't be everywhere at once.

Unfortunately they're serving iced coffee in styofoam cups. Yuck.

Can everyone who orders an iced coffee from this place please join me in requesting that they get plastic (recyclable!) cups?

Jake--you are extremely rude. I wanted to point out that there are people in this neighborhood who rely on Fort Hamilton and Ditmas stops. I do not want our blogger to be everywhere but instead I *have* tried here and elsewhere to post news about other subway stops people use, including warnings and information. I am not alone in this (see the poster who warned about the guy at Fort Hamilton some time back) and wish that we could have a greater appreciation of the three subway stops serving Kensington not just a myopic obsession with Church Ave.

This is not just Jen's responsibility which I admit but the sense we all use Church Ave is one I am not alone in contesting.

And please refrain from rudeness, especially when in this case you happen to be WRONG.

1256-
Jake isn't wrong and I think you're an idiot.
If Jen happens to go past a place that sells iced coffee and recommends it on her blog, SFW?
If you or any other visitor to this site goes past a store selling iced coffee too, then you can post it as well.
Jake is correct, Jen can't be everywhere, get a life.

That is not what I am saying, you extremely ignorant and extraordinarily rude person.

If you read my post, I am referring to the point where she mentions us ALL using Church Ave and I wanted to *gently* point out that there are three subway stops that serve this neighborhood, something that I have mentioned elsewhere. Ditmas and Fort Hamilton on the F all serve Kensington which is the scope of this blog.

My point had NOTHING to do with iced coffee, which is something I don't even drink. If you actually bothered to read my post, you would know that.

Why is someone an idiot for pointing out that there are three subway stops serving Kensington? Last time I checked, that was true. Please stop being so rude to strangers.

Hey, 115;
You need to recommend coffee places if you see them popping up near your stops. If I am rude, then it is because people like YOU expect that this hardworking blogger should be doing all YOUR work. Why don't you get your fanny out there and look for some new iced coffee places and email this site about it?

I do not expect anyone to do any work at all--I am pleased the blog exists and I resent you being rude to me when (a) you have never met me and(b) are unaware that I am someone who has emailed Jen with information about the neighborhood so that makes you wrong and irrationally rude on two counts. I DO WORK and I DO NOT insult others as you do--ignorance and rudeness here go hand in hand. I would appreciate an apology but guess I won't get one.

You clearly NEVER read either of my posts which had NOTHING to do with ice coffee.

I live near a station that has no amenities by it save the basketball courts. I'd report if something was available there--even if it was a beverage I don't like.

Instead, I've reported on closings and dangers in the station and I guess you haven't read my posts. Nor are you aware of other posts that Jen posted after I emailed her.

I wish commenters to this and other blogs would actually stop insulting others when they DO NOT KNOW THEM.

You're NOT getting an apology from me, for what???

You owe ME an apology, for existing in my hood.

This is precisely what I expect from people like you who are aggressive, ignorant and rude and go around picking fights with total strangers. I didn't expect an apology--for being rude to me, for accusing me of things that happened to be wrong and for flying off the handle for no reason in the guise of defending Jen (who I imagine you'd flame if you met online).

I doubt this is your hood and I doubt you've ever done anything for the neighborhood or the blog other than fighting with others. You are a disgrace to humanity.

LOL, 204.
You need to chill out. Take a zanax for Christ's sakes!
"disgrace to humanity" is harsh

Wow. There's so much anonymous angst in here...

People would probably be less rude if you actually introduced yourselves. Yeah, both of you. I mean, from my side of the screen, I'm just replying to a computer. If you, however, have your given name in friendly, blue letters like me and a few of the other nice folk on here, it would be much easier to remember that you have feelings like a real live boy.

If you want me to be nice, introduce yourself.

Hi, I'm Jake. I live in Kensington.

I, for one, welcome our new Iced Coffee overlords.

LOL Steve!

"Lori" here, Jake.
Please find 204 a chill pill and an iced coffee near the Fort Hamilton train stop!

Steve-

We know it's you, Kent Brockman.

I think chinos on fort hamilton pkway serves iced coffee too. That's pretty close to the train station. (I apologize in advance about leaving out the people that live on the other side of the prospect).

For the sake of those around you, please Tivo some Bob Ross and relax.

My 2 cents: a "gentle" reminder could be done via email to the blog owner if you have a request on other locations. And a comment of "hey, just wanted to point out a couple places near my subway stop in kensington that are good..." or "does anyone know of good coffee near my stop?" may invite less flaming. but.. well. it's a blog comments area. this sort of thing unfortunately happens in a public anonymous forum.

This has nothing to do with Iced Coffee, but the guys who run that place are so flirty! (I mean the owner's sons.)
